The 3rd OASIS International PKI Survey

[17 Oct 2005] Expressions of Interest sought from participants and industry associations.

Lockstep Consulting is assisting OASIS PKI Lower Costs Subcommittee to design, set up, promote and conduct the Third International PKI Survey.

Expressions of interest are sought from individuals and organisations interested in participating in the survey, and from industry associations, media, conference organisers and the like, interested in promoting this important international research project. Please contact swilson@lockstep.com.au.

Executive Summary

The OASIS PKI Technical Committee is to conduct a new international PKI survey, the third in a series which started in 2003. PKI, while suffering in the ‘trough of disillusionment' for the past few years, is emerging strongly with many exciting new applications being seen all around the world.

The 3rd International PKI Survey will comprise an on-line questionnaire, and a number of detailed in-person interviews. The questionnaire will be publicly available for several weeks from late 2005 into early 2006 (dates to be confirmed). Interviews are planned around the world in conjunction with major regional security conferences.

The objectives are to explore trends detected in the first two surveys, provide detailed information (perhaps for the first time) on quantitative financial benefits of PKI deployment, and to analyse costs and cost management tactics within the OASIS PKI TC's new Digital Certificate Supply Chain model.

OASIS is seeking organisations and individuals prepared to share their experience—both good and bad—in deploying PKI, whether it be as business analysts, architects, security managers, systems integrators or project managers.

Further details on the 3rd International PKI Survey will become available in early November. More information on past surveys, the OASIS PKI Action Plan, and the new Digital Certificate Supply Chain model are available at:
