23 June 06] Novel ways for smartcards to combat Medicare fraud while enhancing privacy.
Smartcards are thought to be generally a good means to address Medicare fraud. Most approaches have to do with preventing identity theft and duplication of cards. But more use could be made of the intelligence of smartcards, to detect fraud at source without involving centralised data mining or intruding on the privacy of routine medical encounters.
